The Hass avocado, originating from Southern California (Persea americana) is characterized by its dark green–colored, bumpy skin.
Typically weighing between 150 to 250 grams, when ripe the Hass avocado’s skin turns a dark purplish-black and gives under a gentle press of the thumb. High in oil content, the Hass avocado is an excellent source of vitamins C, E, K, and B-6, as well as riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium, and potassium. They also provide lutein, beta-carotene, and omega-3 fatty acids – the healthy type designed to keep your heart healthy!
